Do you ever wonder how best to handle your finances as a student? Are you seeking more information about financial health and financial literacy? Do you want to be best prepared for graduation and entering the workforce? For our second Thriving in Grad School (TIGS) session of the school year, we will be partnering with guest facilitator, Hui Suk So, Director of the Financial Literacy Initiative at the Center for Financial Wellness and Assistant Teaching Professor at UW Tacoma Milgard School of Business, to explore important resources that can support you and your financial health. Topics will include:
- What is financial literacy and why is it important?
- What do I need to understand about personal spending and how to budget? What free tools exist to create a budget as a grad student?
- What do I need to understand about graduate student loans? Are there ways to be a savvy borrower?
- Is saving money possible in grad school? How so?
In this series, guest speakers and facilitators will share their wisdom and strategies for surviving and thriving – within and outside of graduate school. TIGS is held in partnership with the Office of Graduate Student Equity & Excellence (GSEE) and Graduate Student Affairs (GSA).
TIGS was created to support graduate students in various phases of their program. As you move through your graduate studies and toward graduation, it can be helpful to hear from those who have traced this path before you to orient you to important resources.
