    Requirements and Prerequisites
    • Requirements
      • Provide evidence of the successful completion of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution with at least a 3.0 GPA.
      • Demonstrate successful completion of preparatory coursework prior to their formal application to the master's program.
      • Providing official GRE exam results from the last five years is optional. We recommend including GRE scores if you are missing one or more of the prerequisite courses. If you decide to include GRE scores, please request that ETS send your scores directly to the University of Washington at code 4854.

      Please submit professional recommendations from individuals who can speak to your potential for success in the MSCSS program, such as a faculty member, supervisor, or other professional familiar with your academic or professional abilities. We strongly suggest that recommendations are submitted on official letterhead.

    • GRE Requirement: Not Considered. GRE scores are not required and, if submitted, will not be considered during the admissions decision process.

      Non-Native English Speaker Information
      Graduate School requirement: English language proficiency (ELP) is required for graduate study at the University of Washington. Therefore, every applicant whose native language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency as outlined in Graduate School Policy 3.2.

      Applicants who will need a visa should reference the International Applicant Information page. If admitted to the program, international students requesting an F-1 or J-1 visa will be required to provide financial ability documentation to the UW Graduate School.
