    Admission is for winter quarter only.  The winter quarter final deadline is June 30th. ALL application materials, including references, must be received to be reviewed for admissions consideration.

    Requirements and Prerequisites
    Applicants must have a BSW/BASW from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university with professional accreditation from the Council on Social Work Education.  Further information is available at our website.

    If you have graduated within the last 2 years from an undergraduate program, one of the three references is required to be an academic reference. Advanced Standing MSW applicants are required to have a recommendation from your field instructor or social service employer.

    GRE Requirements
    GRE Requirement: Not Considered. GRE scores are not required and, if submitted, will not be considered during the admissions decision process.

    Additional Instructions

    The UW Tacoma Advanced Standing MSW is a PART-TIME, EVENING program only. Information regarding the MSW admission requirements is available on our website.

    Non-Native English Speaker Information
    Graduate School requirement: English language proficiency (ELP) is required for graduate study at the University of Washington. Therefore, every applicant whose native language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency as outlined in Graduate School Policy 3.2.

    International Student Information
    Applicants who will need a visa should reference the International Applicant Information page. If admitted to the program, international students requesting an F-1 or J-1 visa will be required to provide financial ability documentation to the UW Graduate School.

    International students are not eligible to receive an F-1 visa I-20 or the J-1 DS-2019 from the University of Washington for this program.
