Requirements and Prerequisites-
Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an NLN or CCNE accredited program; OR an associate degree in nursing coupled with a bachelor’s degree in another field.

At least a 3.0 grade-point-average on a 4-point scale (or equivalent measures of performance if a graduate of an institution with no grading system) for those credits earned at the institution awarding the bachelor’s degree OR at least a 3.0 grade-point-average (on a 4-point scale) for the last 90 graded quarter credits or 60 graded semester credits.

An active and unencumbered Washington State RN license or a multi-state RN license valid in the State of Washington.

A statistics course in descriptive and inferential statistics with at least a 2.0 grade (no expiration date).

Comply with the Nursing Essential Behaviors.

Comply with the Health and Safety requirements which initially include a criminal disclosure form and national background check with acceptable results following the offer of admission and prior to enrollment in coursework.

Applicants not holding a bachelor’s degree in nursing complete two prerequisite courses or have an approved petition waiving one or both of the courses.

Two recommendations:

A supervisor recommendation. If you are not currently employed, provide a recommendation from a former supervisor or provide a professional recommendation from a graduate prepared health provider.
- An academic or professional recommendation. If your nursing degree was earned within the last 3 years,submit an academic recommendation. If it has been more than three years, provide a professional recommendation from a graduate degree prepared healthcare provider.

GRE Requirements
GRE Requirement:
Not Considered. GRE scores are not required and, if submitted, will not be considered during the admissions decision process.
Additional Instructions-
Submission of the criminal disclosure form, the national background and proof of RN license valid in the State of Washington takes place after an offer of admission and prior to course enrollment. Further instructions will be provided.

Applicants not holding a bachelor’s degree in nursing should contact the graduate program advisor prior to submitting the application.

UW Bothell, Tacoma, and Seattle nursing alumni should contact the program advisor to request the admissions application fee be prepaid prior to submitting the application (as funding permits).
Non-Native English Speaker InformationGraduate School requirement: English language proficiency (ELP) is required for graduate study at the University of Washington. Therefore, every applicant whose native language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency as outlined in
Graduate School Policy 3.2.
International Student Information
Applicants who will need a visa should reference the
International Applicant Information page. If admitted to the program, international students requesting an F1 or J1 visa will be required to provide
financial ability documentation to the UW Graduate School.
International students are not eligible to receive an F-1 visa I-20 or the J-1 DS-2019 from the University of Washington for this program.
