    Requirements and Prerequisites
    Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.

    A minimum 3.0 grade-point-average on a 4-point scale (or equivalent measures of performance if a graduate of an institution with no grading system) for those credits earned at the institution awarding the bachelor’s degree OR at least a 3.0 grade-point-average (on a 4-point scale) for the last 90 graded quarter credits or 60 graded semester credits. For more information, please refer to Policy 3.1 Graduate Admissions.


    The GRE is no longer required.


    GRE Requirements
    GRE Requirement: Not Considered. GRE scores are not required and, if submitted, will not be considered during the admissions decision process.
    Letters of Recommendation Requirements

    ·       Applicants will need two letters of recommendation. See below for specific requirements based on the applicant's intended concentration and/or certificate.

    CECL, E-CRiT, & ESOL Concentrations:
    Letters can come from colleagues, administrators, or community members who can speak to the applicant’s ability to be successful in a graduate program.

    LEDE Concentration with Residency Principal certification:
    Both letters must come from current educators who can speak to applicant’s leadership experience.

    LEDE Concentration with Program Administrator certification:
    At least one of the two letters must come from a current educator who can speak to applicant’s leadership experience. The other letter may come from a colleague, administrator, or community member who can speak to the applicant’s ability to be successful in a graduate program.



    Non-Native English Speaker Information
    Graduate School requirement: English language proficiency (ELP) is required for graduate study at the University of Washington. Therefore, every applicant whose native language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency as outlined in Graduate School Policy 3.2Note: School of Educational Studies Graduate Programs require applicants to meet the “Recommended Score (ELP Satisfied).

    International Student Information
    Applicants who will need a visa should reference the International Applicant Information page. If admitted to the program, international students requesting an F1 or J1 visa will be required to provide financial ability documentation to the UW Graduate School.

    There is no financial assistance available for international applicants.
