    Requirements and Prerequisites

    GRE scores are not required.

    A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in the U.S. or its equivalent from a foreign institution.

    At least a 3.0 or B grade-point-average in the most recent 2 years of study and strong evidence of prior research.

    The department of Pharmacology does not issue application fee waivers.

    Applications are considered for the PhD program only. All required application materials must be submitted online. You must submit unofficial transcripts online to expedite your application. In order to process your application in a timely manner, we require that letters of recommendation be submitted on-line. We do not accept emailed copies.


    Non-Native English Speaker Information
    Graduate School requirement: English language proficiency (ELP) is required for graduate study at the University of Washington. Therefore, every applicant whose native language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency as outlined in Graduate School Policy 3.2.

    International Student Information
    Applicants who will need a visa should reference the International Applicant Information page. If admitted to the program, international students requesting an F1 or J1 visa will be required to provide financial ability documentation to the UW Graduate School.

    International applicant materials are required to be submitted on-line by the deadline date. We do not accept paper copies. Applicants must be invited to attend an on-campus in-person interview. If you live outside the United States, you are responsible for travel costs to the United States.
