    Requirements and Prerequisites
    • Bachelors Degree - unofficial uploaded transcript only.  DO NOT SEND or MAIL ORIGINAL TRANSCRIPT.
    • Three letters of recommendation - MUST BE RECEIVED BY DECEMBER 1st
    • Satisfactory academic record.
    • A minimum 3.0 grade-point-average on a 4-point scale (or equivalent measures of performance if a graduate of an institution with no grading system) for those credits earned at the institution awarding the bachelor’s degree OR at least a 3.0 grade-point-average (on a 4-point scale) for the last 90 graded quarter credits or 60 graded semester credits. For more information, please refer to Policy 3.1 Graduate Admissions.
    Above and all other supporting documentation must be submitted online by December 1 for all applicants.

    Additional Instructions
    Applications are accepted for the PhD program only. No Master's program is offered.


    Non-Native English Speaker Information
    Graduate School requirement: English language proficiency (ELP) is required for graduate study at the University of Washington. Therefore, every applicant whose native language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency as outlined in Graduate School Policy 3.2.

    Program requirement: Minimum TOEFL iBT (Internet): 92. TOEFL must be less than 2 years old from date of application deadline of December 1st. Do not substitute other exam for TOEFL. Only TOEFL is accepted by the Immunology program.

    International Student Information
    Applicants who will need a visa should reference the International Applicant Information page. If admitted to the program, international students requesting an F1 or J1 visa will be required to provide financial ability documentation to the UW Graduate School.

    Funding is extremely limited for International students. Most funding is sourced through the U.S. Government, disallowing support of international students. See 3rd bullet point below.  
    • International applicants must send an email to immgpa@uw.edu for financial information and instructions before submitting an application.
    • Upload PDF copy of transcript to online application.
    • International students should seriously consider finding outside funding before applying, such as from their own government or a private foundation.
