    Applicants must review the application instructions on our website. All application materials, including test scores and recommendation letters, must be received by the deadline. Please make sure to begin your application early.

    Report GRE/TOEFL scores to UW institution code 4854 - there is no department code. Note that it will take several business days after you have submitted your application for your scores to be shown as received on your application status page.

    Recommenders can submit recommendations at any point after receiving the request. Please note that if the recommendation is not received by the time your application is reviewed, it will not be considered.


    Non-Native English Speaker Information
    Graduate School requirement: English language proficiency (ELP) is required for graduate study at the University of Washington. Therefore, every applicant whose native language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency as outlined in Graduate School Policy 3.2.

    Program requirement: If submitting TOEFL scores to fulfill the English language proficiency requirements, a minimum score of 102 (internet-based) is required to meet the requirements. Scores must be from a test taken within the past 2 years. IELTS scores are not accepted.

    International Student Information
    Applicants who will need a visa should reference the International Applicant Information page. If admitted to the program, international students requesting an F-1 or J-1 visa will be required to provide financial ability documentation to the UW Graduate School.
