    1. Your application must include a letter of recommendation from a University of Washington School of Law faculty member who has agreed to serve as your doctoral dissertation supervisory committee chair and write a letter of recommendation, and the letter must include information about the novelty and significance of your proposed PhD topic. Applications are not complete without a letter of recommendation from a UW Law faculty member who has agreed to serve as committee chair.

     2. Your application must include two additional letters from University of Washington faculty members who have agreed to serve on your doctoral dissertation superivsory committee and write letters of recommendation. Applications are not complete without letters of recommendation from UW faculty members who have agreed to serve on your committee.

    For all three letters of recommendation, please use the Recommendations tab on the left menu to request your letters of recommendation.

    GRE Requirements
    GRE Requirement: Not Considered. GRE scores are not required and, if submitted, will not be considered during the admissions decision process.
    Additional Instructions
    The GRE is not required.

    Non-Native English Speaker Information
    Graduate School requirement: English language proficiency (ELP) is required for graduate study at the University of Washington. Therefore, every applicant whose native language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency as outlined in Graduate School Policy 3.2.

    International Student Information
    Applicants who will need a visa should reference the International Applicant Information page. If admitted to the program, international students requesting an F1 or J1 visa will be required to provide financial ability documentation to the UW Graduate School.

    International applicants will be required to show sufficient funding for at least three years.
