    Requirements and Prerequisites
    Prospective students must meet the minimum admission requirements for all graduate students studying at the University of Washington. Please visit the UW Graduate School website for full details.

    The Master of Arts in Museology (MA) does not require GRE scores in our application.


    Master of Arts in Museology (MA) requires two recommendations, but recommends you submit three. We require at least one academic letter of recommendation from faculty members from your previous undergraduate or graduate degrees and recommend two such letters.

    GRE Requirements
    GRE Requirement: Optional/Not Required. Submitting GRE scores is not required. However, if official scores are submitted, they may be considered during the review process.

    Non-Native English Speaker Information
    Graduate School requirement: English language proficiency (ELP) is required for graduate study at the University of Washington. Therefore, every applicant whose native language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency as outlined in Graduate School Policy 3.2.

    Non-native English speakers must fulfill the UW English language proficiency requirements. When fulfilling this requirement through test scores, the following minimum test score must be met:

    TOEFLiBT - 100
    Duolingo - 125
    IELTS - 7.0

    International Student Information
    Applicants who will need a visa should reference the International Applicant Information page. If admitted to the program, international students requesting an F-1 or J-1 visa will be required to provide financial ability documentation to the UW Graduate School.
