    Requirements and Prerequisites

    Please review the following before submitting your application.

    Epi MS Application and Materials

    Please do not submit applications to multiple degree programs within the Department of Epidemiology. We will only review one application per applicant and will not be able to refund application fees for an individual who submits multiple applications to the Department of Epidemiology.


    GRE Requirements
    GRE Requirement: Not Considered. GRE scores are not required and, if submitted, will not be considered during the admissions decision process.

    Recommendation Instructions:
    • Postdoctoral MD and DO Fellow and Resident Applicants must provide a reference from the Fellowship Director & Research Mentor/Lab Director, as applicable, certifying that postdoc will have release time to attend classes. This requires flexible clinic/lab schedules because course times vary depending on the quarter. First year courses meet 5 days per week and schedules vary each quarter. Clinic times must vary from quarter to quarter.
       
    • Postdoctoral MD and DO Fellow and Resident Applicants: At least two, and preferably three, letters should come from individuals with advanced degrees (i.e. PhD or MD).
       
    • Non-Postdoctoral Applicants: At least one, and preferably two, letters should come from individuals with advanced degrees (i.e. Master's or higher).


    Non-Native English Speaker Information
    Graduate School requirement: English language proficiency (ELP) is required for graduate study at the University of Washington. Therefore, every applicant whose native language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency as outlined in Graduate School Policy 3.2.

    International Student Information
    Applicants who will need a visa should reference the International Applicant Information page. If admitted to the program, international students requesting an F1 or J1 visa will be required to provide financial ability documentation to the UW Graduate School.

    International applicants have the same deadline and application requirements as all other applicants.
