    Requirements and Prerequisites

    Only submit this Master of Science in AI & Machine Learning application if you have already submitted separate applications to the Graduate Certificate in AI & Machine Learning for Engineering and the domain specific application of the program you choose. You can also submit this MS application if you have already completed or are currently enrolled in one of your certificates and fully submitted the application to your second certificate.
    • Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree.
    • Undergrad coursework in calculus, differential equations, matrix algebra and physics. Experience writing code (any language is fine).
    • Recommended undergraduate degree in engineering, physics, or chemistry, or a closely related discipline.
    • Other majors will be considered, if required prerequisite coursework above has been completed.

    *Materials over the 1-page limit will only have the first page read.


    When to apply


    Part-time students
     can apply to the master’s degree at the same time as applying to their second certificate, or after being admitted to their second certificate.

    Full-time students apply to the degree at the same time as applying to both certificates.


    GRE Requirements
    GRE Requirement: Not Considered. GRE scores are not required and, if submitted, will not be considered during the admissions decision process.
    Additional Instructions
    • The GRE is not required for this program.
    • Students must list all degrees received, not only the most recent.
    Non-Native English Speaker Information
    Graduate School requirement: English language proficiency (ELP) is required for graduate study at the University of Washington. Therefore, every applicant whose native language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency as outlined in Graduate School Policy 3.2.
