It is a coursework only based degree, with no research or thesis component. The MAE is intended to be a terminal degree, without the potential opportunity to continue to a PhD in the future. International applicants who hold an appropriate undergraduate degree from an accredited university are eligible to apply to the MAE program. However, since the MAE is a part-time program, international students are not eligible for student visas. The University will not issue visas to students in this degree program. One solution for International Students is to complete the degree remotely from their home country GRE Requirements GRE Requirement: Not Considered. GRE scores are not required and, if submitted, will not be considered during the admissions decision process. Additional Instructions Competitive applicants will hold an undergraduate degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering. Undergraduate degrees in other fields may be acceptable, as long as the applicant has completed a minimum level of fundamental engineering and math coursework. Non-Native English Speaker Information Graduate School requirement: English language proficiency (ELP) is required for graduate study at the University of Washington. Therefore, every applicant whose native language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency as outlined in Graduate School Policy 3.2. International Student Information Applicants who will need a visa should reference the International Applicant Information page. If admitted to the program, international students requesting an F1 or J1 visa will be required to provide financial ability documentation to the UW Graduate School. International applicants are strongly encouraged to submit applications as early as possible to allow for the processing and translation of international materials. The department does not have any available funding for MAE students.
