A minimum 3.0 grade-point-average on a 4-point scale (or equivalent measures of performance if a graduate of an institution with no grading system) for those credits earned at the institution awarding the bachelor’s degree OR at least a 3.0 grade-point-average (on a 4-point scale) for the last 90 graded quarter credits or 60 graded semester credits. For more information, please refer to Policy 3.1 Graduate Admissions. GRE scores are not required as part of your application to SEFS. Additional Instructions While we recommend that applicants hold a previous Masters degree prior to beginning doctoral studies, we do not require it. Prospective students who have not earned a master’s degree before the start of their UW PhD program may wish to contact the faculty you are most interested in working with and have a conversation about which degree program application to submit in your case. If you are sure you are wanting to apply directly to the PhD, please proceed. Recommendation Instructions: Environmental & Forest Sciences (PhD) (SEFS) requires a minimum of 3 recommendations. Post-Submission and Fee Payment Questionnaire: Non-Native English Speaker Information Graduate School requirement: English language proficiency (ELP) is required for graduate study at the University of Washington. Therefore, every applicant whose native language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency as outlined in Graduate School Policy 3.2. Program requirement: Applicants who are submitting English Proficiency Test Scores are required to submit self-reported test scores as part of their application.
