    All complete applications submitted by the 11/15 deadline will be considered for SEFS Fellowship and admissions funding packages. The Application Fee also needs to be paid for (or Fee Waiver applied), by the 11/15 deadline.  If the Application Fee or Waiver has not been applied by 11/15, the application will not be evaluated and will be declined by the department.  Recommendation letters are also due by the 11/15 deadline as part of a complete application.

    Requirements and Prerequisites

    We encourage applications from students from diverse backgrounds and disciplines.

    A minimum 3.0 grade-point-average on a 4-point scale (or equivalent measures of performance if a graduate of an institution with no grading system) for those credits earned at the institution awarding the bachelor’s degree OR at least a 3.0 grade-point-average (on a 4-point scale) for the last 90 graded quarter credits or 60 graded semester credits. For more information, please refer to Policy 3.1 Graduate Admissions.

    GRE scores are not required as part of your application to SEFS.
     



    Additional Instructions

    Recommendation Instructions:
    Environmental & Forest Sciences (MS) (SEFS) requires a minimum of 3 recommendations.  You may submit up to 5 recommendations.  It is recommended to submit more than 3 in case any of your recommendation providers are unable to respond unexpectedly.

    It is highly recommended that you follow up with your recommendation providers and make sure they locate the email sent from the application system.  Due to spam filters this email may end up in their spam folder.  The email itself will be coming from this email address: applygrad@uw.edu.

    Post-Submission Questionnaire:
    After you have fully submitted your application, the Post-Application Questions form will be available in your applicant portal. Look for a link, “Post-Application Questions(S) – ENV”, in the “Checklist” which will appear after the system has had time to update after you have submitted the application. SEFS requires this questionnaire to complete your application. Please fill out this additional questionnaire upon application submission.

    Remember to Pay the Application Fee - or Complete Any Waiver Request - by the application deadline of 11/15:

    Non-Native English Speaker Information
    Graduate School requirement: English language proficiency (ELP) is required for graduate study at the University of Washington. Therefore, every applicant whose native language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency as outlined in Graduate School Policy 3.2.

    Program requirement: Applicants who are submitting English Proficiency Test Scores are required to submit self-reported test scores as part of their application.  If you are providing proof of English Proficiency in some other manner allowed by Graduate School Policy 3.2 then you do not need to submit self-reported test scores.

    Applicants who will need a visa should reference the International Applicant Information page. If admitted to the program, international students requesting an F1 or J1 visa will be required to provide financial ability documentation to the UW Graduate School.
