    Requirements and Prerequisites
    The GNM option is for students interested in distance learning only. Academic background in differential equations, linear algebra, and scientific computing/numerical analysis is expected. Applicants should also have the ability to program in Matlab, C, C++, Python, Fortran, or a similar scientific computing language.

    Non-Native English Speaker Information
    Graduate School requirement: English language proficiency (ELP) is required for graduate study at the University of Washington. Therefore, every applicant whose native language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency as outlined in Graduate School Policy 3.2.

    International Student Information
    International students seeking admission to a GNM program are not eligible to receive an F-1 visa I-20 or the J-1 DS-2019 from the University of Washington.
