    Admission Requirements 
     

    Applicants for Winter 2025 and Spring 2025

    Applicants who do not have civil engineering or architecture degrees may need to take a Certificate in Construction Management on campus or online at UW.
     
    GRE scores are no longer required or considered for admission to the Master of Science in Construction Management.

    Applicants for Autumn 2025 and beyond

    Highly qualified applicants will hold a bachelor’s degree in construction management, construction science, construction engineering, civil engineering, or other built environments discipline from a regionally accredited college or university in the United States, or its equivalent from a foreign institution.

    Applicants with a bachelor’s degree in another field should highlight significant professional experience in construction or completion of the UW Certificate in Construction Management in their application.

    -A minimum 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for the last graded 60 semester credits or 90 graded quarter credits

    -Demonstrated English language proficiency for applicants whose native language is not English

    GRE scores are no longer required or considered for admission to the Master of Science in Construction Management.

    Recommendation Guidance

    Please choose three individuals to provide recommendations. If your resume includes more than one year of work experience, designate at least one professional recommendation from a direct supervisor. For three or more years of experience, designate at least two professional recommendations.

    Upon acceptance, official transcripts will be required by the Graduate School.

    Research Pathway

    Applicants interested in pursuing a thesis will be asked to submit a supplemental research statement describing their interest and past relevant experience.

    Recommendation Guidance

    Please choose three individuals to provide recommendations. If your resume includes more than one year of work experience, designate at least one professional recommendation from a direct supervisor. For three or more years of experience, designate at least two professional recommendations. If possible, recommenders should use an email address with their professional affiliation for submission.
     



    Non-Native English Speaker Information

    Only applicable for Winter 2025 and Spring 2025 Applicants

    Graduate School requirement: English language proficiency (ELP) is required for graduate study at the University of Washington. Therefore, every applicant whose native language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency as outlined in Graduate School Policy 3.2.

    Program requirement: TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo English Test scores are REQUIRED for all students with degrees earned outside the United States, with exceptions for degrees earned in the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. See the full text of Graduate School Policy 3.2 for minimum scores and other options for demonstrating English proficiency.

    International Student Information
    Applicants who will need a visa should reference the International Applicant Information page. If admitted to the program, international students requesting an F1 or J1 visa will be required to provide financial ability documentation to the UW Graduate School.

    No department funding is available for beginning Masters students. TA or RA positions may become available on a quarterly basis. Current students are eligible to apply for these positions.

    I-20 forms are prepared and sent only after the student has accepted admission and paid their Enrollment Confirmation Deposit (ECD).

    GRE Requirements

    GRE Requirement: Not Considered. GRE scores are not required and, if submitted, will not be considered during the admissions decision process.
