    Requirements and Prerequisites
    A minimum 3.0 grade-point-average on a 4-point scale (or equivalent measures of performance if a graduate of an institution with no grading system) for those credits earned at the institution awarding the bachelor’s degree OR at least a 3.0 grade-point-average (on a 4-point scale) for the last 90 graded quarter credits or 60 graded semester credits.     Program Track

    • Applicants with a four-year pre-professional architectural degree from an NAAB-accredited institution are eligible to apply for advanced standing to enter the2-year Master of Architecture (M.Arch) track. Prerequisites for entering the 2 year M.Arch are located on our website.
    • Applicants holding a Bachelor's degree in another discipline should apply to the 3 year M Arch track.

    Test Scores

    •  GRE test scores are NOT required nor reviewed.
    • The only self-reported test scores that will be considered a are English language proficiency tests (Duolingo, IELTS, or TOEFL).

    Concurrent MArch/MLA Applicants
    If you are applying for either the concurrent MArch/MLA degree program, you must complete separate applications for both programs. You may use the same letters of recommendation for both programs, however, we recommend that you inform those writing letters for you that you are applying to both degrees so their letter can address both programs.

    Submitting Application Materials

    Architecture does not receive mailed or emailed application materials. Materials sent to the department will not be reviewed or returned. All required materials must be submitted electronically into the online application.

     

    Non-Native English Speaker Information
    Graduate School requirement: English language proficiency (ELP) is required for graduate study at the University of Washington. Therefore, every applicant whose native language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency as outlined in Graduate School Policy 3.2.

    International Student Information
    Applicants who will need a visa should reference the International Applicant Information page. If admitted to the program, international students requesting an F1 or J1 visa will be required to provide financial ability documentation to the UW Graduate School.
